Purpose

Before
publication of the Biodiversity Report  the Environment Act 2021 requires that the Council
sets out its first considerations and this has to be published by 1
January 2024.  The attached Report
(Appendix A) is the First Consideration.  It sets out the current position of the Council
with regards to biodiversity and the actions it intends to take to
prepare and publish the first Biodiversity Report.

Decision

RESOLVED - 
That the ‘First Consideration’ report be approved as
the Council’s initial response to the Biodiversity Duty, as
required by the Environment Act 2021, and published on the
Council’s website.  That work
commences to produce the first Biodiversity Report by September
2024 as set out in the First Consideration Report be
approved.
