Purpose

The Council Tax Reduction Scheme is reviewed on an annual basis.  This report will make recommendations of changes to the scheme.  It will ask for approval to go out to consultation if any changes to the scheme are to be made.

Decision

 RESOLVED –

  1. That the progress of the income banded Council Tax Reduction Scheme, be approved.
  2. That no changes are made to the Council Tax Reduction Scheme for 2027/28 except for a percentage increase to the income bands in line with the DWP annual percentage uplift, be approved.

REASON FOR DECISION: To continue with the new system that has provided a simplified inbuilt claiming process covering a wide range of income ranges.
