The terms of reference for the
Planning Committee are set out in Part 7 of the Council’s
Constitution, located in the
Constitution section of this website.
The Planning Committee
meets every month to decide upon planning applications not dealt
with by officers under delegated powers.
Applications are
referred to the Planning Committee which satisfies one or more of
the following criteria:

when requested by a Member of the Council;
·
where major matters of planning policy are involved;
·
where the Council would be involved in any financial liability;
·
where there is significant public interest; and
·
where considered appropriate by the Deputy Chief Executive, Growth
& Regeneration.
Up to 3 public
speakers (on a first come, first served basis) may address the
Committee on each application for no more than 3 minutes. Persons
wishing to speak must register their wish to do so with Democratic
Services (020 8496 4537) by no later than noon on the day of the
meeting. Applicants or their agent are also able to speak at the
meeting. Full details of the public speaking protocol are set out
in the
Planning Code of Practice.
The Committee also
deals other functions contained within the Town and Country
Planning Act 1990 and related legislation including Historic
Building Grants but does not deal with planning policy issues.
