The Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE) in Waltham Forest advises the Local Authority on matters related to collective worship and religious education (RE) in community, voluntary aided, academy, independent, and free schools. It provides advice on RE provision, staff training, and standards, and can respond to referrals or initiate discussions on relevant issues. SACRE also has the power to agree alternative forms of collective worship for specific schools. The council supports the implementation of the Waltham Forest Agreed Syllabus for RE, promotes community cohesion, and publishes an annual report detailing its advice, activities, and RE examination results.
