Decision

To vary the entry requirements to the domiciliary care framework. Going forward, providers will be required to be registered with CQC for 12 months. It will not be necessary for providers to have undertaken their first CQC inspection. Providers who have been inspected will be required to be rated good or outstanding.

Reasons for the decision

The council is experiencing delays in placing care with domiciliary care providers as a result of shortages in the workforce. This decision will expand the number of provider who can be contracted to the council to ensure that there is sufficient and sustainable care available for people to meet the council's duties under The Care Act 2014.

Alternative options considered

The alternative to do nothing would not enable the council to meet its statutory duties under The Care Act 2014 to ensure sufficiency and sustainability of the care market.
