Building a Fairer Newham Corporate Delivery Plan Review
Decision Maker: Cabinet
Outcome: Decision approved
Is Key Decision?: Yes
Is Callable In?: Yes
Date of Decision: February 18, 2025
Purpose: The report proposes changes to the current Building a Fairer Newham Delivery Plan and Performance framework for 25/26. Cabinet is being asked to agree the proposals
Content: Decision For the reasons set out in the report and its appendices Cabinet RESOLVED to Agree: i) The revisions to the Corporate Delivery Plan, as detailed in Appendix 1, which ensures alignment with funding availability, feasibility, and a focus on delivering priority actions. ii) The revised Performance Framework, as outlined in Appendix 2, including updates to the BaFN Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), to better support monitoring and achievement of the Council’s strategic priorities. Alternatives Considered a) An alternative would be to retain the Corporate Delivery Plan as originally adopted in September 2022. However, this is not recommended due to significant changes in the external and internal context, including increased financial pressures, rising demand for services such as Temporary Accommodation, and stretched organisational capacity. b) The LGA Corporate Peer Review highlighted the need to prioritise and focus on short-, medium-, and long-term goals, making clear decisions about what the Council can and cannot do. Reviewing the Plan ensures alignment with current challenges and commitments, enabling the Council to deliver the most value to residents within its capacity.
