The Local Policing Committee of City of London Council is scheduled to convene on Thursday, 18 June 2026. The agenda includes reviewing performance reports, discussing ongoing strategies, and considering updates on various policing initiatives.
Policing Plan Performance Report - Q4 2025/26
The committee is scheduled to receive a report detailing the performance against the Policing Plan for the fourth quarter of the 2025/26 financial year. This report will provide an overview of the City of London Police's performance against its strategic objectives, including trends in crime, victim satisfaction, compliance with the Victims Code of Practice, efforts to improve the national policing response to fraud, economic, and cyber crime, progress on being an inclusive and trusted police service, and improving overall productivity.
City of London Victims Strategy - Update
The committee is scheduled to receive an update on the City of London Victims Strategy. This strategy, first published in December 2024, aims to place victims at the heart of policing and improve services and outcomes for those affected by crime. The update will detail progress on the thirteen measures outlined in the strategy, covering areas such as better information and communication for victims, ensuring procedural justice, improving multi-agency working, and enhancing the professionalism of victims' services. The update will also cover the implementation of the Victims and Prisoners Act 2024 and the ongoing work of the Victim Services Board and the Victim Services Working Group.
Safer City Streets Campaign
An update on the Safer City Streets campaign is also on the agenda. Launched on 19 May 2026, this campaign aims to reduce crime, protect communities, and reinforce the City of London as a safe global centre. The initiative combines visible policing, technology, intelligence-led hotspot activity, and public messaging. The report is expected to detail the campaign's objectives, tactics, and initial outcomes, including media engagement and social media impact. The campaign's messaging is aligned with the Policing Plan's strapline, Going the extra mile,
and aims to build public trust and confidence through a visible police presence.
Local Policing Update
A general update on local policing operations and security is scheduled. This will likely cover ongoing efforts related to police reform, the current counter-terrorism threat level, and the launch of new initiatives. The report may also touch upon the establishment of the Multi-Agency Prevention Team (MAPT), which aims to deliver a problem-solving approach in partnership with other agencies, and the City of London Police's recognition by the British Retail Consortium for its response to retail crime.
Live Facial Recognition
The committee is also scheduled to receive information regarding the use of Live Facial Recognition (LFR) technology within the City of London. The report is intended to provide reassurance about the lawful, ethical, and proportionate use of LFR, with a focus on safeguards, oversight, cost, and public confidence. It will outline what LFR will and will not do, the legal and privacy considerations, and the current position on developing the force's LFR policy and operational processes. The report will also discuss options for acquiring and deploying LFR technology, recommending a nationally supported collaborative deployment model.
Other items scheduled for discussion include Public Outstanding References, the election of a Deputy Chair, and the agreement of public minutes from the previous meeting. The meeting will also address questions on matters relating to the committee's work and any other urgent business. A portion of the meeting will be held in private to discuss non-public matters.
