Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on West Northamptonshire and are not the council. About us
The Strategic Planning Committee of West Northamptonshire Council is scheduled to convene on Tuesday 16 June 2026 to consider several planning applications. The meeting's agenda includes discussions on a significant outline application for up to 850 dwellings near Grange Park, an outline application for up to 450 dwellings near Brackley, and a retrospective application for a waste transfer and treatment facility in Roade.
Land South of Grange Park, Northampton (2023/5978/EIA)
A major outline application for up to 850 dwellings is scheduled for discussion. The proposal includes plans for a new local centre, a primary school, open spaces, community allotments, and associated highway works. The report pack indicates a recommendation to grant permission, subject to conditions and the completion of a Section 106 agreement. This agreement would secure provisions such as 45% affordable housing, financial contributions towards primary healthcare, education, libraries, and sustainable transport, as well as open space provision and the transfer of land to local parish councils. Concerns raised by local councils and residents include potential flooding, air pollution from the M1 motorway, and harm to the setting of Foxfield Country Park.
Land North East of Brackley Grange Cottages, Halse Road, Brackley (S/2020/2163/MAO)
This outline application seeks permission for up to 450 dwellings, along with public open space, designated play space, and a cemetery. Access arrangements from Halse Road and Miranda Way are also part of the proposal. The recommendation is to grant permission, subject to conditions and a Section 106 agreement. This agreement would secure 40% affordable housing, financial contributions for primary healthcare, education, libraries, and sustainable transport, as well as open space provision and transfer of land to Brackley Town Council. Objections from Brackley Town Council and others highlight concerns about increased pressure on local roads, inadequate infrastructure, and the impact on the character of Brackley.
Cottage Farm, Unit 11, Hartwell Road, Roade (WNC/26/00004/WASFUL)
A retrospective application for a change of use of an industrial building to a Waste Transfer and Treatment Facility is to be discussed. The proposal involves the collection, sorting, and treatment of non-hazardous commercial, industrial, and domestic waste. The report indicates a recommendation to grant permission, subject to conditions. These conditions would include restrictions on waste throughputs, types of waste handled, hours of operation, HGV movements, and stockpile heights. No objections were raised by statutory consultees, although local residents and Roade Parish Council expressed concerns regarding traffic volume, road suitability, road safety, and potential amenity impacts.
The meeting will also address the confirmation of minutes from previous meetings held on 21 April 2026 and 12 May 2026.
