The Rating Advisory Panel of Westminster Council was scheduled to convene on Tuesday 18 June 2024. The primary focus of the meeting was to consider applications for discretionary and hardship relief related to National Non-Domestic Rates (NNDR).
NNDR Discretionary and Hardship Relief Applications
The panel was scheduled to review a significant number of applications for discretionary and hardship relief concerning National Non-Domestic Rates (NNDR). These applications, detailed across pages 3 to 386 of the public reports pack, would have been considered by the panel. The report pack indicates that the Chief Executive, Stuart Love, submitted these recommendations on 3 June 2024.
The agenda also noted that the panel would consider excluding the public and press from discussions relating to these applications. This recommendation was made under Section 100(A)(4) and Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972. The justification for this exclusion was that the discussions would likely involve the disclosure of exempt information, and it was considered that the public interest in maintaining this exemption outweighed the public interest in disclosure.
The meeting was scheduled to be chaired by Councillor Robert Eagleton, with other members including Councillor Maggie Carman, Councillor Patrick Lilley, and Councillor Paul Swaddle OBE.
