The Staffing Committee of Waltham Forest Council met on Monday 20 May 2024 to appoint a new Strategic Director of Adult Social Services. The committee conducted an interview and agreed to offer the post to Marc Gadsby, subject to standard appointment checks.

Appointment of Strategic Director of Adult Social Services

The committee interviewed candidates for the role of Strategic Director of Adult Social Services. Following the interview process, the committee resolved to offer the position to Marc Gadsby. This decision is contingent upon the completion of the necessary appointment checks. The Officer Employment Procedure Rules, as outlined in Part 8 of the Council's Constitution, stipulate that an offer for chief officer and heads of service appointments can only be made if no material or well-founded objection is received from a member of the Cabinet. The Democratic Services team confirmed that Cabinet members were consulted regarding this appointment.

The meeting was attended by Councillor Grace Williams (Chair), Councillors Marion Fitzgerald, Jenny Gray, and Louise Mitchell. Officers present included Linzi Roberts-Egan, Chief Executive; Shazia Hussain, Deputy Chief Executive; and Lee Witham, Corporate Director of Culture and Workforce Development. No apologies for absence or declarations of interest were made. The press and public were not present during the meeting.
