Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Devon and are not the council. About us
The Development Management Committee of Devon Council is scheduled to consider several key planning matters. These include the Devon Minerals and Waste Plan, its associated Annual Monitoring Reports, and a proposed extension to Hillhead quarry. The committee will also review a Local Member Engagement Protocol.
Devon Minerals and Waste Plan
A report concerning the Devon Minerals and Waste Plan is scheduled for discussion. This plan outlines the council's strategy for managing mineral extraction and waste disposal across the county.
Devon Minerals Plan: Annual Monitoring Report
The committee is set to review the Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) for the Devon Minerals Plan. This report typically assesses the effectiveness of the plan and its progress towards achieving its objectives.
Devon Waste Plan: Annual Monitoring Report
Similarly, the Annual Monitoring Report for the Devon Waste Plan is on the agenda. This report will likely provide an overview of waste management performance and the implementation of the waste plan.
Local Member Engagement Protocol
A Local Member Engagement Protocol is also listed for consideration. This protocol is expected to detail how local councillors will be involved in the planning process.
County Matter: Minerals – Mid Devon: Proposed Extension of Hillhead Quarry
A significant planning application proposed for discussion involves the extension of Hillhead Quarry Complex near Uffculme in Mid Devon. The proposal includes the extraction of sand and gravel, the use of imported inert fill for restoration, the construction of a new internal haul road, and the retention of existing mineral processing facilities. The County Planning Manager is expected to verbally report on the receipt of this application, and it is considered appropriate for members to visit the site before a report is made to the committee.
Delegated Actions
The committee is also scheduled to review schedules of planning applications and consultation responses that have been dealt with under delegated powers. This includes:
- Schedules of planning applications: A report detailing planning applications determined by officers.
- Schedules of consultation responses: A report outlining responses received from various consultees on planning applications.
