Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Kingston upon Thames and are not the council. About us
The New and Old Malden Neighbourhood Committee is scheduled to consider several items at its upcoming meeting. These include proposals for highway safety interventions at Fountain Roundabout, plans for the Local Implementation Programme for 2027-28, and measures to reduce speed in the neighbourhood. The committee will also review applications for Neighbourhood Community Grants.
Fountain Roundabout Update
The committee is scheduled to receive feedback from Transport for London (TfL) regarding proposed highway safety interventions under the Borough Safer Streets and Speeds programme. The intention is to seek approval to proceed with detailed design and modelling for preferred signalised layout options at Fountain Roundabout.
Proposed Local Implementation Programme (LIP) 2027-28
A discussion is scheduled regarding the schemes proposed for inclusion in the final year of the three-year 2025-28 Local Implementation Plan (LIP) funding bid submission to Transport for London (TfL). This plan outlines the council's strategy for transport improvements.
Prioritised Intervention - Speed Reduction in the Neighbourhood - Phase 2
The meeting agenda includes a presentation of traffic survey data concerning average speeds within the New and Old Malden Neighbourhood. Following this, a programme of measures will be put forward to encourage speed reduction at locations identified in the second phase of a 20mph review. This initiative aligns with the council's commitment to road safety and the portfolio holder for Climate Action, Biodiversity and Regulatory Services, Councillor Mike Massimi's1 focus on such matters.
Community Grants
Applications for Neighbourhood Community Grants (NCG) are scheduled for consideration. These grants are typically awarded to local organisations and projects that benefit the community.
Neighbourhood Manager's Report
The Neighbourhood Manager is expected to provide a report on various issues arising within the neighbourhood.
