Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Camden and are not the council. About us
The Resources and Corporate Performance Scrutiny Committee of Camden Council is scheduled to consider Camden's Energy Procurement Strategy and receive an annual update on the People and Inclusion Service. The committee will also review its work programme for the upcoming year.
Camden's Energy Procurement Strategy
A report from the Cabinet Member for Finance and Cost of Living is scheduled to be presented, outlining the proposed procurement strategy for Camden's new gas and electricity supply contracts. These contracts are intended to cover the corporate, housing, and schools' estates for the period of October 2028 to September 2032. The strategy involves accessing the wholesale energy market through a Central Purchasing Authority (CPA). This approach is designed to mitigate the risks associated with energy market volatility and aims to achieve cost savings through the aggregation of large public sector estates.
Annual People and Inclusion Service Update
The committee is also scheduled to receive an annual update from the Director of People and Inclusion regarding the Council's workforce. This report is expected to detail key workforce trends, achievements, and challenges encountered over the past year. It will cover areas such as workforce planning, organisational culture, leadership, inclusion, wellbeing, reward, recruitment, and workforce development. The report is anticipated to demonstrate how ongoing investment in the workforce contributes to the Council's objective of delivering We Make Camden
by supporting the attraction, retention, development, and engagement of a skilled and diverse workforce. It will highlight progress made during the 2025/26 period, address current workforce challenges, and outline priorities for the 2026/27 period.
Resources and Corporate Performance Scrutiny Committee Work Programme
The committee's work programme for 2026/27 is also scheduled for review, alongside an action tracker that monitors progress on actions from previous meetings. This document will provide an overview of the committee's planned activities for the forthcoming year.
