Election of Honorary Alderman
The Council considered conferring the title of Honorary Alderman of the Borough of Rushmoor on Diane Bedford in recognition of her 22 years of service to Rushmoor Borough Council.
That, pursuant to the provisions of Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act, 1972, the title of Honorary Alderman of the Borough of Rushmoor be conferred upon DIANE BEVERLEY BEDFORD in recognition of the eminent and long service rendered by her to Rushmoor Borough Council for 22 years.
The Local Government Act 1972 section 249(1) states that Councils can decide to give the title of Honorary Alderman or Honorary Alderwoman to people who have been Councillors for the area if they think that person has provided eminent service to the Council.
