The report provided for the meeting showed that in the third quarter of 2024/25, only 55.9% of complaint investigations were completed within the target of 90 working days.
Performance for Q3 2024/25 (55.9%) represents a decrease of 11.3 percentage points from the same quarter in 2023/24 (67.2%).
The target for complaints to be finalised within 90 working days is set by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).1 The report goes on to explain that the IOPC set this target because:
Your investigation should normally be completed within 90 working days from the date the complaint or conduct matter was recorded, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
