The Employment and Appointments Committee met to confirm a shortlist of candidates and appoint a Director of Planning and Development. The committee was also scheduled to review the minutes from their previous meeting.

Appointment of Director of Planning and Development

The main item on the agenda was the appointment of a Director of Planning and Development. The committee was asked to:

• Confirm the shortlisted candidates for the role.
• Appoint a candidate to the post.
• Note the advertised salary for the post, which was advertised as being between £116,721 and £131,742, and agree the final salary or the parameters within which the successful candidate should be offered the post.
• Note that any offer of employment would be subject to the completion of the Executive Notification Procedure, which requires members of the Executive to be notified of the proposed appointment and given an opportunity to make an objection, as laid out in the Officer Employment Procedure Rules in the Constitution.

The committee was asked to formally ratify this shortlist, interview candidates for the role, and make a decision on the appointment.

The Director of Human Resources authorised the report on 17 June 2025.

Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The committee was scheduled to approve the minutes of the meeting held on 17 April 2025. At that meeting, the committee:

• Recommended that Rachael Tiffen and Yemi Mustapha be appointed as Independent Persons for Standards for a four-year term.
• Delegated authority to the Chair to recommend to Council the candidates to be appointed as Co-Opted Members to the Audit and Risk Committee.
• Interviewed candidates for the post of Director of Education and Achievement but did not appoint anyone to the position.
