Audit and Corporate Governance (Staff Appeals) Sub-Committee - Thursday, 2nd October, 2025 1.00 pm
October 2, 2025 View on council websiteSummary
The Audit and Corporate Governance (Staff Appeals) Sub-Committee of Camden Council met on 2 October 2025 to discuss an appeal against dismissal, as well as other standard agenda items. Due to the confidential nature of the appeal, the public and press were excluded from that portion of the meeting.
Here's a summary of the topics that were listed for discussion:
Appeal Against Dismissal
The sub-committee was scheduled to consider an appeal against dismissal submitted by a former employee of Camden Council. The Public Reports Pack included papers submitted by the appellant, a case summary and response to the grounds of appeal, and documentation considered at the formal meeting.
Before discussing the appeal, the sub-committee was asked to pass a resolution to exclude the public and press from the proceedings, because the discussion was expected to include exempt information as defined in Category 1 of schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972. According to the Agenda Frontsheet, publicity regarding the appeal would be likely to lead to the disclosure of information relating to a particular employee or former employee of the Council.
Terms of Reference
The sub-committee was scheduled to note its terms of reference, which are:
- To hear and determine appeals under the council's Disciplinary Procedure.
- To hear and determine appeals under the council's Absence Management Procedure.
Other Business
The agenda also included standard items such as:
- Election of a chair.
- Apologies for absence.
- Declarations by members of personal and prejudicial interests in respect of items on the agenda.
- Any other business the chair considers urgent.
- An item regarding access to information, related to the Local Government Act 1972.
