Summary
The Taxi Licensing Committee convened to address several key issues, including appeal cases, certificates of good conduct, and several private hire vehicle and Hackney carriage 1 driver's license applications and reviews. The committee resolved to move into a private session to discuss confidential matters pertaining to these cases. During the private session, the committee reviewed the status of five drivers' licenses, ultimately deciding to suspend three, revoke two, and grant one application for a private hire vehicle driver's license.
Review of Driver Licences
The committee reviewed the status of five drivers' licenses, taking into consideration information presented in reports, statements from the drivers, and relevant council policies. They considered whether they would want a person they cared for, or a vulnerable person, to be driven in a vehicle by the driver.
The outcomes of these reviews were:
- Private Hire Vehicle Driver Licence 1: Suspended for 14 days, with requirements to undertake a driving standards test and provide an updated medical certificate within three months.
- Private Hire Vehicle Driver Licence 2: Suspended for one calendar month.
- Private Hire Vehicle Licence: Suspended for 18 days.
- Hackney Carriage Vehicle Driver Licence: Revoked.
- Private Hire Vehicle Driver Licence 3: Revoked.
Application for Private Hire Vehicle Driver Licence
The committee considered an application for the grant of a Private Hire Vehicle Driver Licence. After reviewing the report, considering what was said by the driver, considering all of the relevant policies referred to in the report, and asking itself whether it would want a person they cared for, or a vulnerable person, to be driven in a vehicle by the driver, the committee agreed to grant the applicant's application.
Appeal Cases
The committee received an update stating that there were no updates on the outcomes of any appeal cases.
Certificates of Good Conduct Exemptions
The committee noted that there were no certificates of good conduct exemptions granted.
