The Central Local Area Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday 8 October 2025 at the ISRAAC Community Centre to discuss budgetary matters and local projects. The committee will also receive community updates on Local Area Committee projects and hold creative workshops to gather feedback from the public.

Central Local Area Committee Budget

The Central Local Area Committee is expected to discuss the expenditure against the 2025/26 budget of £100,000, which is allocated to address local priorities outlined in the Central LAC Community Plan.

According to the Central LAC Budget Report, each Local Area Committee receives a £100,000 budget to address local priorities. These priorities are detailed in the Central LAC Community Plan, which was agreed in March 2022.

The Central LAC has five priorities:

• Transport and Highways
• Environment
• Communities and Neighbourhoods
• Community Safety and Crime
• Business, Employment and Skills

The report pack includes a breakdown of spending, which has been approved by the Community Services Manager, Adeel Zahman, under delegated authority as of October 2025. A total of £53,741.86 has been allocated to local community groups for projects addressing the priorities in the Central LAC Community Plan.

The report also states that in May 2025, the Central LAC agreed to allocate £25,000 per ward to address the priorities in the Central LAC Community Plan.

Appendix 1 - October Project Spend v2 provides a ward breakdown of the latest spending. Some of the organisations and projects that have received funding include:

• S6 Foodbank: £800 for 4.5 tonnes of local food provision in Broomhill and Sharrow Vale Ward, £435 for the same provision in City Ward, £1,250 in Hillsborough Ward, and another £1,250 in Walkley Ward.
• Sharrow Vale Community Association: £1,364.46 for the Holestar Planter Scheme.
• Lindley Education Trust: £1,720 for women's only climbing sessions.
• ISRAAC Centre: £1,491 for a Special Education Needs - Education Fair.
• The Art House: £1,536 for hot meal with pottery, art and cooking workshops for people living with mental health conditions or recovering from addiction.
• KINCA (Kelham Island and Neepsend Community Alliance): £1,000 for Green Kelham.
• Shoreham Street TARA: £1,635 for a community meal.
• Element Society: £2,500 for a street reach project.
• Castlegate: £2,500 for the Castlegate festival.
• Help us Help: £2,000 for support for upcoming projects.
• Friends of City Centre: £984 for a Love Square Mural.
• St Mary's Church – Bramall Lane: £2,500 for Summer Activities and Family Events.
• RIVA: £3,000 for a new cooker.
• Hillsborough Health Walk: £741 for community walks in Hillsborough.
• RivelinCo: £5,000 for the Hillsborough Midsummer festival.
• Winn Gardens: £700 for a Family Fun Day.
• The Burton Street Foundation: £3,402.40 for renovations to improve the daily lives of adults and children with learning and physical disabilities.
• Ponderosa nature group: £450 for additional seating within the green space.
• Lick of Paint: £4,413 for Netherthorpe underpass.
• Zest: £7,000 for This community can Initiative, and £1,500 for purchasing children's books.
• Walkley Carnegie Library: £1,500 for a blue sticker book refresh.

The report states that the decisions on spending contribute to the following outcomes in 'Together we Get things Done', The Sheffield City Council Plan 2024 – 2028:

• Great neighbourhoods that people are happy to call home
• People live in caring, engaged communities that value diversity and support their wellbeing

Creative Workshops

The agenda includes an item for creative workshops, during which the live webcast will be paused to allow public participation. The workshops will cover the following topics:

• 'Love Where you Live'
• 'Tell us about your Personal Experiences'
• 'What would you like to see from the Central LAC?'

Following the workshops, feedback from the discussions will be presented.

• The minutes of the previous meeting held on 16 July 2025 are to be approved.
• There will be an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions or submit petitions.
• Local councillors will have the opportunity to speak.
• There will be community updates on grassroots projects.
• Members will declare any interests they have in the business to be considered at the meeting, in accordance with the Members' Code of Conduct.
