The Children, Families, Lifelong Learning and Culture Select Committee of Surrey Council are scheduled to discuss the draft budget for 2026/27, updates to short breaks¹ and performance and inspection reports at their meeting. They will also be reviewing the council's responses to previous reviews of early help² and preparing for adulthood.

Draft Budget 2026/27

The committee will be examining the draft budget proposals for 2026/27. Two documents, CFLL Select Committee - Draft Budget Scrutiny and CFLL Select Committee - Dec 25 Draft Budget, contain information relating to this.

Short Breaks Update

The committee is scheduled to receive an update on short breaks. This will include discussion of the sufficiency of current services, how the services are being used, and the quality of the services being provided. Performance and Inspection Reports

The committee will be reviewing performance and inspection reports. This includes a performance overview cover report, performance metrics and an inspections cover report. Also included are reports on EHCP recovery, social worker reporting, and foster carer turnover. The children's social care metrics will also be reviewed.

Cabinet Responses to Reviews

The committee is scheduled to review the cabinet's responses to previous reviews. This includes the cabinet response to the early help review and the cabinet response to preparing for adulthood.

Other Business

The action and recommendation tracker will be reviewed. The committee will also be discussing its forward work programme.
