Application for Transport Assistance

The committee is scheduled to consider an application for transport assistance. The report pack states that the report and appendices contain exempt information by virtue of Paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972, which relates to information concerning an individual. Therefore, the public and press may be excluded from this part of the meeting.

Minutes from previous meetings on the same topic, held virtually via Microsoft Teams, are included in the report pack.

During a meeting held on 6th October 2020, the committee considered an appeal relating to a request for home to school transport assistance, in respect of Case No. 1214. The Pupil Support and Passenger Transport Manager introduced a report detailing the grounds for the appeal. The appellant was in attendance to make representations. The meeting was then adjourned to seek further information.

The meeting was reconvened on 15th October 2020, where additional information from Outwood Academy Adwick was submitted, providing confirmation regarding the entrances used by year 7 pupils.

The committee was not persuaded that there was sufficient reason to uphold the decision, and the appeal was refused. The report pack states that the decision was made considering:

all the circumstances, the information set out in the report, the representations made and evidence presented at the Committee meeting held on 6th October, 2020 and at today's meeting, the Council's Home to School Transport Policy July 2015, and the DfE guidance on Home to School Travel and Transport.
