February 9, 2026 at 10:00 am View on council websiteSummary
The Lancashire Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) is scheduled to meet on Monday, 9th February 2026. The meeting will cover a review of the council's annual report and the development plan for the next two years, alongside updates on the Agreed Syllabus Conference and potential funding for educational projects.
Lancashire SACRE Annual Report 2024/25
The council will consider the final draft of the Lancashire SACRE Annual Report for 2024/25. This report is a statutory requirement for all SACREs and will be submitted to NASACRE and the Department for Education. The report details the council's activities and achievements during the academic year, including information on meetings held, attendance, the work of the Quality and Standards Committee, and data on ethnicity and faith across Lancashire schools. It also outlines progress on the Agreed Syllabus Conference, Religious Education provision, survey results, GCSE and KS5 outcomes, and links with other agencies.
Lancashire SACRE Development Plan 2026-2028
A key item on the agenda is the consideration and approval of the Lancashire SACRE Development Plan for 2026-2028. This plan outlines the SACRE's priorities for improvement over the next two years, with targets informed by the NASACRE self-assessment tool. The plan is structured around three key priorities: ensuring effective management and statutory duties, improving the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment in Religious Education, and enhancing the provision of Collective Worship.
Lancashire Agreed Syllabus Conference Update
An update will be provided on the progress of the Agreed Syllabus Conference, which has been meeting to review the Lancashire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. The work is reported to be well advanced, and members of the conference will share their findings.
Update on a Potential Project for a Culham St Gabriels Award
The council will receive an update on a potential project for a Culham St Gabriels Award. This follows a request from the SACRE for the Quality and Standards Sub-group to consider a project for a funding application. The report will include information previously circulated on Culham St Gabriels Awards, which offer project grants to support the vision and strategic objectives of religion and worldviews education. The focus areas for 2025-2026 include special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), Artificial Intelligence, supporting teachers with other specialisms, and those from under-represented groups.
Lancashire SACRE Membership Update
An update on the membership of the Lancashire SACRE will be presented. This includes information on new appointments, such as Moulana Naeem filling a vacant position for Islam, Claire Jubb joining from the University of Cumbria, and ongoing efforts to fill vacancies for Judaism and the Lancashire Governance Association.
Other Agenda Items
The meeting will also include a review of the minutes from the previous meeting held on 17 November 2025. Updates are scheduled on the NASACRE North West RE Hub, the Lancashire SACRE website, and members' news, including feedback from training and development. Contributions from observers and a review of correspondence will also be part of the agenda.
