Councillor Abdul Wahid, Chair of Overview & Scrutiny Committee, led a meeting where the committee elected Councillor Abdul Mannan as Vice-Chair and appointed scrutiny lead members to sub-committees. The Tower Hamlets Council meeting on 14 May 2025 included the election of a new speaker and deputy speaker, and decisions on the make-up of committees for the municipal year. Councillor Suluk Ahmed was elected as the new speaker, and Councillor Bellal Uddin as deputy speaker. The council also voted to adopt an independent chair for the Audit Committee and re-adopted the council's constitution.

The Tower Hamlets Health and Wellbeing Board met to discuss the development of a new health and wellbeing strategy for the borough, which is due in 2025. The workshop focused on understanding the health and wellbeing needs of Tower Hamlets residents, defining the strategy's unique purpose, and considering the current strategic context. The board also reflected on the principles that should underpin the strategy.
