Grants Determination (Cabinet) Sub-Committee - Wednesday, 5th February, 2025 5.30 p.m.

The Grants Determination Sub-Committee agreed to renew the Section 92 Police Act 1996 grant agreement with the Metropolitan Police Service. This will see the council continue to directly fund a police task force of four sergeants and 22 officers. The Sub-Committee also noted a performance report on the Mayor's Community Grants Programme for July to September 2024. The Sub-Committee was content that two amber-rated projects had returned to a green rating and that a third, run by Platform Cricket, was expected to do so soon.

The Cabinet noted a report on the Youth Justice Board Strategic Plan 2024-2025 and a report on highways and transportation projects. The Cabinet also agreed to a set of recommendations on the draft budget for 2025-26 and the Medium-Term Financial Strategy (MTFS) 2025-28.

The meeting was about the administration of the Tower Hamlets Council Local Government Pension Scheme.[^1] The report pack included several reports on the scheme's performance, risks, liquidity, and legislative changes. It also proposed holding a Pension Fund Information Forum for scheme employers and members in January 2025.

Children and Young People’s Supported Housing Pathway

...to ensure continued and high-quality services for vulnerable children and young people, the Cabinet approved the re-procurement of the Tower Hamlets Children and Young People’s Supported Housing Pathway contract for three years, with the option for two 12-month extensions, starting June 1st, 2026, at an annual value of £1,783,325, and authorized the Corporate Director of Children's Services to award the contract to the best value bidder.
