The annual meeting of Wiltshire Council saw Councillor Laura Mayes elected as the new chairman, and Councillor Ruth Hopkinson elected as vice-chairman. Councillor Ian Thorne was appointed leader of the council for 2025-2029, and he announced his cabinet. Councillors also voted to delegate decisions on committee appointments to a later meeting, and to authorise work to establish a new financial scrutiny committee.

The Chippenham and Villages Area Board met to appoint a chair, vice-chair, and representatives to the Local Highways and Footpath Improvement Group (LHFIG). Councillor Liz Alstrom was appointed as Chairman, Councillor Ross Henning as Vice-Chairman, and Councillors Ross Henning and Adrian Foster were appointed as the Chippenham and Villages Area Board representatives on the LHFIG.

Audit and Governance Committee - Thursday 10 April 2025 10.30 am
The Audit and Governance Committee met on 10 April 2025, to discuss external audit reports, the Statement of Accounts 2023/24, accounting policies, internal audit reports, and the forward work programme. The committee delegated approval of the Statement of Accounts 2023/24 and associated documents to the Corporate Director of Resources (S151 Officer) in consultation with the Chair of the Audit & Governance Committee, and approved an amendment to the Annual Governance Statement (AGS) 2023/24. The committee also received presentations on management action plans related to internal audits of Business Continuity, Business Information and Data Quality, and Leisure Income Financial Controls.
