The Development Committee of Tower Hamlets Council met to discuss three planning applications, ultimately granting permission for all three with attached conditions and obligations. The applications concerned the retrospective change of use for a multi-use games area at Halley Primary School, the redevelopment of the Stifford Community Centre site, and the reconfiguration of commercial space at 5 Yeo Street.
Strategic Development Committee - Wednesday, 23rd April, 2025 6.30 p.m.
The Strategic Development Committee met to discuss two planning applications. Permission was granted for the demolition of Clare House and the construction of new residential dwellings and community floor space. Councillors also approved the erection of east and west extensions to the existing Global Switch House.
Housing & Regeneration Scrutiny Sub Committee - Tuesday, 15th April, 2025 6.30 p.m.
The Housing and Regeneration Scrutiny Sub Committee met to discuss social landlord performance, progress against scrutiny recommendations, and the Regulator of Social Housing report. The committee reviewed the Social Landlords Performance Report for Quarter 3 of 2024/25, tracked the implementation of recommendations from the previous scrutiny challenge session on housing provider performance, and received an update on the council's recent inspection by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH). Extraordinary, Audit Committee - Thursday, 13th March, 2025 6.45 p.m.
The Tower Hamlets Audit Committee convened to address statutory recommendations from the external auditor, EY, regarding the 2023-24 audit results, as required by the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014[^1]. The committee agreed to the recommendations relating to closing of accounts and internal controls, but requested a more detailed action plan concerning procurement and contract management. After this, the press and public were excluded from the meeting to discuss a report from PWC regarding a homecare contract and forensic audit.
