Corporate Resources and Economy Scrutiny Committee - Thursday, 6th June, 2024 7.30 pm

The committee agreed to note the minutes of the previous meeting and to note a report on the new Islington Check-Ins performance management process. They also provisionally agreed their work plan for the year, and asked officers to prepare a draft scrutiny initiation document on the topic of How the council uses its resources to enhance social capital .

Licensing Sub Committee C

Licensing Sub Committee C - Tuesday, 21st May, 2024 6.30 pm

The Licensing Sub-Committee approved two applications for new premises licences: one for the Dreamery at 30 Newington Green Road, and one for The Mad Hatter at 44 Old Street. The committee heard from residents about both applications, and added conditions to the licences in order to address their concerns.

The Licensing Committee met and set the schedule of Licensing Sub-Committee meetings for the 2024/2025 municipal year. They also agreed the membership of each of the four sub-committees, and appointed a Chair and Vice-Chair for each one. The minutes of the meeting held on 12 March 2024 [^1] were agreed.

Annual Council

Annual Council - Thursday, 16th May, 2024 7.30 pm

Councillor Anjna Khurana was elected as Mayor of Islington for 2024/25, with Councillor Jason Jackson as her deputy. Outgoing Mayor, Councillor Gary Heather, was thanked for his service to the borough. Councillor Kaya Comer-Schwartz announced a refreshed Executive, with new responsibilities and some changes in personnel. The Council also approved a number of constitutional amendments relating to the operation of scrutiny, changes to the Members’ Allowances Scheme and procurement rules, and the membership and terms of reference for the Council’s committees.
