The Staffordshire County Council met on 11 December 2025, and the meeting was dominated by discussion of recent scandals involving council members, and the implications for the council's reputation and ability to deliver services. Councillors also debated a motion on renewable energy, agreeing to support renewable energy production on spaces with limited agricultural value, and to investigate renewable energy production on council-owned sites. The council also approved changes to its constitution and the appointment of chairmen and vice chairmen of committees.

Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education - Wednesday 12th November 2025 2:00pm

The Staffordshire Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) met to discuss key issues in religious education (RE), including equality, diversity and inclusion, the curriculum and assessment review, and inspection data. The council approved the updated safeguarding policy and the annual report for 2024-25, and also noted that the budget had been fully allocated for the year. Councillor Hifsa Haroon-Iqbal OBE DL was appointed as the new chair of the SACRE.

Staffordshire County Council convened to discuss the implications of the Labour government's proposals for local government reorganisation (LGR) and to consider a proposal for an East-West unitary authority split in Staffordshire. Councillors unanimously opposed the government's LGR plans, which they felt were being imposed on them without a clear mandate or public support. Despite their opposition, the council debated and ultimately agreed to forward a proposal for an East-West split to the government, while also agreeing to send a letter to the Secretary of State and the Prime Minister, expressing their united opposition to LGR in Staffordshire.

Staffordshire County Council met to discuss a range of issues, including the adoption of a new approach to environmental policy, the appointment of political assistants, highways maintenance, and the Community Fund. The council voted to rescind its climate emergency declaration made in 2019, but rejected a proposal to include percentage impact alongside financial impact in budget changes. Councillors also approved changes to the constitution regarding political assistant posts.
