The Chief Officer Appointments Sub-Committee met to interview candidates for the role of Interim Chief Executive and, subject to no objections from Cabinet Members, agreed to recommend to Full Council that Paul Martin be appointed to the post.

Chief Officer Appointment Committee - Monday 14th July 2025 9.00 a.m.

The Chief Officer Appointments Committee met to discuss the establishment of sub-committees to appoint a Director of Property and a Director of Early Help and Safeguarding. The meeting was scheduled to take place at Newham Dockside.

Council - Monday 14th July 2025 7.00 p.m.

The Newham Council meeting on 14 July 2025 included discussions on a range of topics, from the council's culture and relationships to temporary accommodation and financial challenges. Councillors were scheduled to discuss a report from the Cross-Party Working Group, a response to a Best Value Notice, and a review of political proportionality. Members were also expected to address questions from the public and fellow councillors, and to consider two motions relating to free school meals and environmental safety.

Chief Officer Appointments Sub-Committee - Monday 23rd June 2025 10.00 a.m.

The Chief Officer Appointments Sub-Committee convened to interview candidates for the position of Director of Housing Needs. The recommendation of the committee was scheduled to be subject to consultation with Cabinet members, in line with the council's constitution. Standards Committee - Wednesday 18th June 2025 6.30 p.m.

At a meeting of the Standards Committee of Newham Council, Councillor Steve Brayshaw was appointed Chair, and a discussion was held on the composition of the committee, specifically regarding the possibility of having a committee comprised entirely of independent members. The committee also reviewed the government's consultation outcome on remote attendance and proxy voting in local authorities, and received a quarterly report on member training attendance.
