The Environment Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee met on Wednesday 2 September 2026 to discuss a range of environmental issues, including the management of dockless bikes, sustainable drainage strategies, and updates on task and finish groups. Key decisions included the adoption of a hybrid approach to managing dockless bikes, which will involve using statutory powers for confiscation and exploring Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with providers, alongside investigating designated parking locations. The committee also recommended the adoption of new national standards for Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS).

The Environment Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee met to discuss an update on fly-tipping arrangements across the borough, including the outcomes of a recent campaign. The committee also reviewed the Cabinet Forward Plan and discussed the work programme for the upcoming year.

Extraordinary Council, Council - Tuesday 7th July, 2026 7.00 pm

The Council of the London Borough of Barnet convened for an extraordinary meeting to confer the Honorary Freedom of the Borough upon five organisations in recognition of their exceptional service. The Council also held its ordinary meeting, during which various announcements were made, including congratulations to new parents and acknowledgements of deceased former councillors, and discussions took place on a range of important local issues.
