Extraordinary Meeting, County Council - Tuesday 14 October 2025 11.00 am

Warwickshire County Council met to discuss and comment on proposals for unitary local government in Warwickshire, with a final decision delegated to the cabinet. The council voted to recommend that the cabinet consider the importance of town and parish councils, that full constituent membership of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) would be the best arrangement, and that a single unitary council for Warwickshire is the optimum model for local governance. Amendments to the proposals were put forward but were all rejected.

Regulatory Committee - Tuesday 7 October 2025 10.30 am

The Warwickshire County Council Regulatory Committee met on Tuesday to discuss planning application WDC/24CC004 for Evergreen School. Councillors voted to refer the application to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government for consultation, and, if the Secretary of State does not call in the application, to delegate the power to grant planning permission to officers. This decision was made despite an objection from Sport England regarding the loss of playing fields.

Resources and Fire & Rescue Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday 24 September 2025 2.00 pm

The Resources and Fire & Rescue Overview and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss several key issues, including fire service resources, library performance, the council's financial position, and treasury management. The committee agreed to the recommendations in the Quarter 1 Integrated Performance Report 2025/26 and heard that library visits are up 11% year on year. Members also discussed a petition regarding fire services in Nuneaton and the potential inaccuracies it contained.

County Council - Tuesday 23 September 2025 10.00 am

The Warwickshire County Council met to discuss a range of issues, including petitions relating to local concerns, funding for bus services, highway improvements, and a declaration of a special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) emergency. Councillors also debated motions on highways and investment in walking and cycling infrastructure.

Special Meeting, Resources and Fire & Rescue Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Monday 22 September 2025 10.00 am

The Resources and Fire & Rescue Overview and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss a new flag policy and a compulsory purchase order (CPO) for the Wheat Street/Leicester Road area in Nuneaton. Councillors voted against a proposal to send the flag policy back to the cabinet for further discussion, and also voted against a proposal to publish the reasons behind decisions on whether or not to allow a flag to be flown. The committee agreed to hold a future meeting to examine the Wheat Street/Leicester Road CPO in greater detail.
