Inner North East London Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee (INEL JHOSC) - Wednesday 6th November 2024 7.00 p.m.

The Inner North East London Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee (INEL JHOSC) meeting on 06 November 2024 included a scheduled discussion of a range of topics relating to the provision of healthcare in the boroughs of Newham, Hackney, Waltham Forest and Tower Hamlets by the NHS North East London Integrated Care Board. The meeting was scheduled to include a discussion of the ongoing transition of responsibility for commissioning specialised services from NHS England to the Integrated Care Board, and a discussion of some proposed changes to the way that maternity care and neonatal care are provided. The committee was also scheduled to receive an update on the financial position of the NHS in North East London, which is reporting year-to date deficit of £87.2m (ICB £9.1m, providers £78.1m), which is a variance to plan of £53.2m .

Health and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Commission - Tuesday 29th October 2024 7.00 p.m.

The meeting on 29 October 2024 was scheduled to include a review and adoption of the 'Meeting Newham’s Future Needs' scrutiny report, an update on the Newham Safeguarding Adults Board, and the consideration of a report on the provision and development of 0-19 health services.

Themed, Council - Monday 21st October 2024 7.00 p.m.

The Council of Newham Council approved two motions, one regarding the establishment of a special task force to examine the causes of and possible solutions to the borough's temporary accommodation crisis, and one in support of the Labour government's national house building agenda. A motion calling on the council to adopt a number of policies advocated by the Green Party, including ending right to buy, introducing rent controls, and reforming council tax, was defeated.

Council - Monday 16th September 2024 7.00 p.m.

The Council approved motions on the provision of public toilets in the borough, the transfer of planning powers from the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) to the Council, and a motion cracking down on knife crime. The Council also approved the allocation of seats on council committees, and the adoption of a revised complaints procedure. A Green motion on child poverty and a Green amendment to the London City Airport motion were both defeated.

Health and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Commission - Tuesday 30th July 2024 7.00 p.m.

This meeting of the Health and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Commission was scheduled to include updates from the Newham Place Partnership on how they have been managing their finances, and to consider their plans to prepare for future population growth. The Commission was also scheduled to consider a report on leisure activities in Newham, and to consider its future work plan.
