The Newham Council meeting scheduled for 10 November 2025 included discussion of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee’s work programme, a themed report on growth, and the East London Joint Waste Plan. Councillors were also expected to discuss motions relating to housing and developer contributions, and to answer questions from both the public and council members. The council was also scheduled to hear from Sunder Katwala of British Futures on the work of the Commission for the Future of Belonging & Inclusion in Newham.

The Newham Council meeting on 9 October 2025 included discussion of gambling regulation, temporary accommodation safeguarding, and updates from scrutiny committees. The council approved the appointment of three co-opted members to the Standards Committee, and also received updates on the Overview and Scrutiny Committee's work programme.

The Local Development Committee of Newham Council met on 6 October 2025. During the meeting, attendees were scheduled to discuss a planning application relating to 269 High Street South, and to elect a vice-chair. The committee was also expected to confirm the minutes of a previous meeting.

Education Children and Young People Scrutiny Commission - Monday 15th September 2025 7.00 p.m.

The Education, Children and Young People Scrutiny Commission met to discuss education place planning, youth empowerment, and community safety, agreeing to note reports on each topic. Councillors raised concerns about school closures, support for pupils with special educational needs, and the impact of poverty on young people.

Housing and Regeneration Scrutiny Commission - Tuesday 9th September 2025 7.00 p.m.

The Housing and Regeneration Scrutiny Commission met on 9 September 2025, to discuss the repairs and maintenance service, and to receive an update on the C4 grading from the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH). The commission also reviewed and agreed its work programme for the next meeting.
