The General Purposes Committee met on Tuesday 17 June 2025, to elect a vice-chair, approve the minutes from the previous meeting, note the committee's terms of reference, and approve nominations for local authority governors at maintained schools in Tower Hamlets. Councillor Abdul Wahid was elected as Vice-Chair of the General Purposes Committee for the municipal year 2025/2026.
Overview & Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday, 11th June, 2025 6.30 p.m.
The Tower Hamlets Overview & Scrutiny Committee met to discuss a report on hate crime reporting and the direct award of contracts for domiciliary care services. Councillor Abdi Mohamed presented a report on hate crime reporting, which was well-received by the committee, and the committee agreed to send it to the cabinet. The committee then moved into a closed session to discuss the Domiciliary Care Service Direct Award of Contract.

Councillor Abdul Wahid, Chair of Overview & Scrutiny Committee, led a meeting where the committee elected Councillor Abdul Mannan as Vice-Chair and appointed scrutiny lead members to sub-committees. The committee also reviewed a report on maternity care and a challenge session on net zero emissions, agreeing on recommendations for both.
