The committee noted the activities of the Standards Advisory Committee for the municipal year May 2024 – May 2025 as set out in the Annual Report of the Standards Advisory Committee.
Overview & Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday, 11th June, 2025 6.30 p.m.
The Tower Hamlets Overview & Scrutiny Committee met to discuss a report on hate crime reporting and the direct award of contracts for domiciliary care services. Councillor Abdi Mohamed presented a report on hate crime reporting, which was well-received by the committee, and the committee agreed to send it to the cabinet. The committee then moved into a closed session to discuss the Domiciliary Care Service Direct Award of Contract.
Human Resources Committee - Thursday, 22nd May, 2025 6.30 p.m.
The Human Resources Committee was scheduled to discuss senior recruitment, employee relations, and the gender pay gap, as well as setting the terms of reference for the next municipal year. They were also scheduled to discuss a briefing note on the Housing Options team. Some of the items were for noting only.
Annual Meeting, Council - Wednesday, 14th May, 2025 7.00 p.m.
The Tower Hamlets Council meeting on 14 May 2025 included the election of a new speaker and deputy speaker, and decisions on the make-up of committees for the municipal year. Councillor Suluk Ahmed was elected as the new speaker, and Councillor Bellal Uddin as deputy speaker. The council also voted to adopt an independent chair for the Audit Committee and re-adopted the council's constitution.
