Children and Education Scrutiny Sub-Committee - Monday, 20th October, 2025 6.30 p.m.

The Children and Education Scrutiny Sub-Committee is scheduled to meet to discuss the performance of Education, Health and Care Plans[^2] (EHCP) for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and to review the provision of mental health services for children and young people in Tower Hamlets.

Overview & Scrutiny Committee - Monday, 13th October, 2025 6.30 p.m.

The Overview & Scrutiny Committee met to discuss strategic performance monitoring, the strategic vision for 2035, the annual complaints report, and flood risk management. Councillors reviewed the council's performance against its strategic objectives, provided feedback on the draft strategic vision, scrutinised the handling of complaints, and assessed the progress of flood risk management initiatives. The committee also agreed to extend the deadline for pre-decision scrutiny questions on unrestricted cabinet papers.

Council - Wednesday, 8th October, 2025 7.00 p.m.

The Tower Hamlets council meeting on 8 October 2025 addressed community safety concerns, debated motions on international issues, and reviewed local policies. The council approved a motion to urge the Metropolitan Police to reconsider the decision to close the Bethnal Green Police Station's front counter, while a motion recognising the state of Palestine failed. Additionally, the council approved a revised Gambling Policy and noted the Annual Report of the Standards Advisory Committee.

Standards Advisory Committee - Monday, 29th September, 2025 6.30 p.m.

The Standards Advisory Committee met to discuss the preparations for the 2026 Member Induction Programme, and to review the quarterly update on the register of interests, gifts and hospitality. Councillors also received an update on the Member's Pledge, a behavioural framework being developed with the Centre for Governance and Scrutiny.

The Children and Education Scrutiny Sub-Committee met to discuss social care reforms, the findings of a special educational needs and disability (SEND) inspection, and the sub-committee's work programme. Councillor Sulukh Ahmed was appointed as the vice chair of the sub-committee.
