Homes and Communities Scrutiny Committee - Monday, 14th October, 2024 7.30 pm

The Committee agreed to note the progress made on the Housing Ombudsman Action Plan Update - October Housing Scrutiny Update and the Homelessness prevention and rough sleeping strategy 2024, and to note the updates provided on the broadband rollout, the Voids programme and the Joint protocol on Section 17 families between Childrens' Social Care & Homes and Neighbourhoods. No decisions were taken on these topics.

Licensing Committee - Tuesday, 8th October, 2024 6.20 pm

The Licensing Committee of Islington Council was scheduled to consider changes to the membership of one of its sub-committees. The Committee was also scheduled to receive and note the minutes of its previous meeting which took place on 21 May 2024.

Homes and Communities Scrutiny Committee - Thursday, 26th September, 2024 7.30 pm

The Homes and Communities Scrutiny Committee agreed to a scrutiny review of community centres in the borough, discussed an update to the Homelessness Prevention and Rough Sleeping Strategy, received an update about the Islington Care Leavers and Housing Protocol, and reviewed progress on a range of performance targets for the first quarter of 2024/25.

Council - Thursday, 19th September, 2024 7.15 pm

The meeting included announcements from the Mayor and the Leader of the Council. It then moved on to consider a petition calling for the Council to divest funds from institutions engaged in illegal occupations and crimes against humanity. The Council then approved seven motions that had been submitted by Councillors. It also approved a number of reports, including a report on the Council’s budget, and made a number of appointments.

Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 10th September, 2024 7.00 pm

The meeting began with a presentation on persistent absence in Islington secondary schools, which the Committee is scrutinising. Members noted the report and will decide at a later date whether to invite headteachers from schools with high and low absence rates to speak to the Committee. There was also discussion of Islington's headline provisional school results and the SEND Framework and Transitions Update. Members noted both reports, although some requested additional information for future reports. Finally, the Committee considered the Quarter 4 Performance Report and noted the Islington Young People's Drug and Alcohol Service (IYPDAS) data.
