Appeals Committee - Monday, 18th August, 2025 10.00 am
The Cornwall Council Appeals Committee met on 18 August 2025, chaired by Councillor James O'Keefe, to discuss requests for travel assistance to attend schools in Cornwall. Travel assistance was approved for a pupil to attend Nancealverne School in Redruth, but was refused for pupils attending Bodmin College, Oak Tree School in Bude, Red Moor School in Liskeard, and The Roseland Academy in St Austell. An appeal regarding travel assistance to Brannel School was settled prior to the meeting.
Miscellaneous Licensing Committee - Friday, 15th August, 2025 10.30 am
The Miscellaneous Licensing Committee of Cornwall Council met on 15 August 2025, to discuss several licensing applications and reviews. The committee refused applications for Hackney Carriages that did not meet policy specifications, reviewed existing Hackney Carriage licenses, and made decisions on granting new licenses based on whether applicants were deemed fit and proper
persons. The committee also observed a two minute silence at 12pm as a mark of respect for the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.
East Sub-Area Planning Committee - Tuesday, 5th August, 2025 10.00 am
The East Sub-Area Planning Committee met to discuss three planning applications and an appeals report. Outline planning permission was granted for Knowlton Holdings Ltd to build up to 92 residential dwellings in Wadebridge, subject to conditions and a Section 106 agreement[^2]. The committee also voted to grant permission in principle for a residential development comprising nine dwellings in Bude. However, outline planning permission was refused for the construction of a self-build dwelling in Launceston, despite the support of Councillor Adam Paynter, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Resources and Group Leader - Independent Group.

The Cornwall Council Appeals Committee convened to discuss several items, including the election of a chairman, declarations of interest, and the minutes from the previous meeting. The main focus of the meeting was to address appeals related to school transport for students attending various schools across Cornwall. Due to the confidential nature of the information, the press and public were scheduled to be excluded from the meeting during the discussion of these appeals.
