At a meeting of Islington Council, councillors discussed a range of issues including the impact of government cuts, the importance of social value in procurement, and support for private renters. Councillors voted to support motions on embedding social value and compliance in procurement, supporting private renters, and recognising the Communication Workers Union (CWU) and the local campaign to save the Upper Street Post Office. An original motion opposing cuts to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) was amended and then carried.

Environment, Climate and Transport Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 1st July, 2025 7.30 pm

The Islington Environment, Climate and Transport Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the final report of the 2024-25 scrutiny review, and to select a new scrutiny topic for 2025-26, deciding to focus on waste reduction, recycling and the circular economy. The committee also agreed its work plan for the coming year.

Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee - Monday, 16th June, 2025 7.00 pm

The Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee met to discuss a range of issues affecting young people in Islington, including selecting a scrutiny topic for the year, reviewing a report on religious education, and examining performance data related to children's services. The committee decided to focus its scrutiny efforts on play spaces and services in Islington for the coming year. They also agreed to add an update on post-16 opportunities to their work programme.

Licensing Committee - Tuesday, 10th June, 2025 6.20 pm

The Islington Council Licensing Committee met on 10 June 2025 to discuss changes to the membership of the Licensing Sub-Committees. Councillor Heather Staff, Chair of Licensing Committee and Migrants Champion, was scheduled to chair the meeting.
