Young People, Learning and Employment Policy and Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday 15th July, 2025 6.30 pm

The Young People, Learning and Employment Policy and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the upcoming work programme, review the draft Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Strategy for 2025-2030, and address the rising costs of providing care for children with complex needs. The committee approved the draft SEND strategy and made recommendations to address the financial demands on the council for children with SEND and complex needs.

The Westminster City Council meeting included a tribute to former Councillor Nikki Aiken, presentations from the public, questions to the cabinet, and debates on housing and private renters. Councillors voted to approve constitutional changes and amend the members' allowance scheme.

At a meeting of Westminster Council, Councillor Nickie Aiken was made an Honorary Alderman, and councillors debated a range of issues including school mergers, service charge increases, adult social care funding, cycle route safety, and housing priorities. Councillors also approved constitutional changes and an amendment to member allowances for 2025-2026.

Planning Sub-Committee (2) - Tuesday 10th June, 2025 6.30 pm

The Planning Sub-Committee (2) is scheduled to meet on 10 June 2025 to discuss several planning applications and a tree preservation order. The most significant items include alterations to Dolphin Square and a planning application for 1-7 Livonia Street. The committee will also consider a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) for a sycamore tree at Paddington Bowling and Sports Club.

Council - Wednesday 14th May, 2025 7.00 pm

At the annual meeting of the Westminster City Council, Councillor Paul Dimoldenberg was elected as the new Lord Mayor, succeeding Councillor Robert Rigby. The council also approved changes to the Procurement Code and confirmed the allocation of places on standing committees.
