Council - Monday 16th December 2024 7.00 p.m.
The Council voted to approve the minutes of the last meeting, a range of treasury management proposals, amendments to the procedural rules, the new polling districts and polling places review, the recommended recipients of the Civic Awards, a report on exempted decisions made since the last meeting, and to appoint two Independent Persons[^1] for the council. The council also debated two motions, one about recruitment diversity and one about the Olympic Park Fixed Estate Charge. The Council voted to approve both motions, with the Fixed Estate Charge motion being approved as amended.
Extraordinary, Council - Monday 16th December 2024 6.30 p.m.
The Council voted unanimously to award the Honorary Freedom of the Borough to Lyn Brown and Paulette Watson MBE. No one was awarded the title of Honorary Alderman.
Pensions Committee - Wednesday 11th December 2024 6.30 p.m.
The meeting discussed the state of the Newham Pension Fund and its administration. The committee noted a number of updates on the fund's investments and their performance, and heard updates on the work of the fund administrators, LPPA.
Licensing (2003 Act) Sub-Committee - Wednesday 4th December 2024 10.00 a.m.
The Licensing (2003 Act) Sub-Committee decided to modify the conditions of the premises licence of Greenland Supermarket, 323 Romford Road, Forest Gate as requested by the Council's Licensing Team in their application for review. The Sub-Committee decided to use wording suggested by the Metropolitan Police in one of the conditions of the licence.
Licensing (2003 Act) Sub-Committee - Wednesday 20th November 2024 10.00 a.m.
The Licensing Sub-Committee granted a new premises licence to Mr Hameed Mohammad for Deccan Bahar Ltd at 79 Green Street in Forest Gate. The licence was granted with conditions sought by the responsible authorities, including a reduction in the licensable hours on weekdays, and a requirement that all staff undergo training on the four licensing objectives. Mr Mohammad was also instructed to ensure that his staff do not allow unaccompanied children under 16 years old to be on the premises after 22:00, and to take steps to protect the welfare of any vulnerable person on the premises.
