Extraordinary Council Meeting, Council - Thursday 23 October 2025 6.00 pm

The Hackney Council meeting on 23 October 2025 convened to address a cross-party motion concerning the council's ties with Israel amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The council did not carry the original motion put forward by the Green Party and Hackney Independent Socialist Group. Instead, the council voted to approve recommendations outlined in the Labour group's amended motion.

Planning Sub-Committee - Wednesday 8 October 2025 6.30 pm

The Hackney Council Planning Sub-Committee met on 8 October 2025, to discuss several planning applications, including a large development at the Shoreditch Island Site, the construction of new residential dwellings on the Nye Bevan Estate, and the change of use of existing properties to children's homes at 38 Firsby Road and 15 Triangle Road. The sub-committee approved the minutes from the previous meeting, and also approved all of the planning applications that were discussed, with the exception of the application for 9 Clifden Road, which was deferred.

Corporate Committee - Monday 22 September 2025 6.30 pm

The Hackney Council's Corporate Committee convened on 22 September 2025, approving the Planning Service Authority Monitoring Report, noting the Gender and Ethnicity Pay Gap 2025 report, and reviewing the Corporate Committee's work programme for 2025/26. The committee also approved the minutes from the previous meeting held on 19 May 2025.

Council - Wednesday 17 September 2025 7.00 pm

The Hackney Council meeting on 17 September 2025 included discussion of climate change initiatives, scrutiny reports, and a motion regarding the two-child benefit cap, which was ultimately rejected. Councillors also approved the annual update on decarbonisation commitments, the Overview and Scrutiny annual report, the Standards Committee annual report, and noted decisions taken under special urgency provisions.

Skills, Economy and Growth Scrutiny Commission - Thursday 11 September 2025 7.00 pm

The Skills, Economy and Growth Scrutiny Commission met to discuss cabinet member achievements, the automation of parking appeals, and the commission's work programme. Councillors agreed to a new business-focused item for January and discussed the timing of a transport strategy review.
