This meeting was the first of 2025 for the full Council of Camden Council. It was scheduled to include a petition presented by the Camden Palestine Solidarity Campaign, a themed debate about how Camden Council works with partners and institutions, an update on the Council’s response to the Government’s consultation on the 10 Year Health Plan for England, a report on the proposed Council Tax Support scheme, the proposed Contract Standing Orders, the Council Tax and Business rates bases, and the responses to written questions submitted by Councillors for the previous Council meeting.
Extraordinary meeting, Council - Monday, 20th January, 2025 6.00 pm
This meeting was called following a request by five councillors to discuss the Housing Ombudsman Service's recent report on Camden Council. The Ombudsman's report is highly critical of Camden's Housing Repairs service. It makes a series of recommendations on how the service can be improved.
Holborn District Management Committee - Wednesday, 8th January, 2025 6.30 pm
The Holborn District Management Committee (DMC) met to discuss the Housing Revenue Account (HRA) budget for 2025/26 and to vote on recommendations regarding rent and service charges. The committee did not support the proposed rent increase or increases to tenant service charges for caretaking and CCTV, and grounds maintenance, but did support the proposed freeze to communal lighting charges, the increase to communal mechanical and electrical (M&E) maintenance charges, the increase to the responsive housing patrol charge, and the reduction in heating pool charges. The committee also raised concerns about preventative maintenance, leaseholder charges, and government support for housing.
Children, Schools and Families Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 10th December, 2024 6.30 pm
This meeting was scheduled to receive the Cabinet Member for Jobs, Young People & Culture and the Cabinet Member for Best Start for Children and Families’ annual reports. The meeting was also scheduled to receive an update on the second quarter of the year from the council, and consider the work of the Camden Safeguarding Children Partnership.
Holborn District Management Committee - Tuesday, 3rd December, 2024 7.00 pm
This meeting was expected to feature discussion of the council's Housing Revenue Account (HRA) budget for 2025/26, including the proposal to increase rent in line with inflation and further service charge increases for tenants. The meeting was also scheduled to receive a report on the Housing Transformation Programme, and a response to concerns raised by residents at a previous meeting about the future of the Holmes Road Depot.
