Cabinet - Wednesday, 24th July, 2024 5.30 p.m.
The Cabinet agreed all of the items on its agenda. The most significant decisions were to progress a new draft Local Plan and to begin consultation on a Public Space Protection Order for dogs and their owners. The Cabinet also agreed to extend the contract for the Barkantine Heat and Power Company for two years, and to grant permission for five schools to become academies.
Council - Wednesday, 17th July, 2024 7.00 p.m.
The meeting decided that Columbia Road Market, Watney Market and Whitechapel Market should all be officially designated as markets, and also that the market fees at these markets, and at all other markets and street trading spots in Tower Hamlets should increase by 3.1% from September 2024. The meeting also agreed the contents of an interim scheme by which the council will take over the planning powers of the London Legacy Development Corporation ([LLDC]) in September 2024.
Strategic Development Committee - Tuesday, 16th July, 2024 6.30 p.m.
The Strategic Development Committee approved planning permission and listed building consent for redevelopment of the former London Chest Hospital on Bonner Road, and approved the Council's observations on a Reserved Matters Application for Plot 1 of the Bishopsgate Goodsyard development. The committee deferred a decision on a planning application for a residential development at 4 & 5 Harbour Exchange Square pending a site visit. Councillor Iqbal Hossain was appointed as Vice-Chair of the committee for the municipal year 2024/25.
Cabinet - Wednesday, 10th July, 2024 5.30 p.m.
The Cabinet noted the council's provisional financial outturn for 2023-24, reviewed the Quarter 4 performance report, and approved the revised Homelessness Accommodation Placement Policy. The Cabinet also approved a procurement transformation paper intended to address a history of failures in council procurement.
Pensions Committee - Monday, 1st July, 2024 6.30 p.m.
The Pensions Committee noted the 2023/24 accounts for the Tower Hamlets Pension Fund before they are audited by EY. They also noted a number of updates on the running of the Pension Fund, and a work programme for the coming year.

...to ensure continued and high-quality services for vulnerable children and young people, the Cabinet approved the re-procurement of the Tower Hamlets Children and Young People’s Supported Housing Pathway contract for three years, with the option for two 12-month extensions, starting June 1st, 2026, at an annual value of £1,783,325, and authorized the Corporate Director of Children's Services to award the contract to the best value bidder.
