Strategic Development Committee - Monday, 25th November, 2024 6.30 p.m.
The committee made two decisions. It refused to grant permission for the proposed construction of student accommodation at 7 Brannan Street. It decided to grant permission to amend the operating hours of the Blackwall Way Yard Jetty. The committee also elected a new Chair for part of the meeting.
Council - Wednesday, 20th November, 2024 7.00 p.m.
At this meeting, the council debated three petitions from members of the public and two motions proposed by the political groups. The council unanimously voted to reject or significantly reduce a proposed Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for dogs and unanimously voted to adopt the Migrant Care Workers' Charter. The council also voted to adopt a motion asking for the reintroduction of Meals on Wheels. The council voted to change who chairs the council committees.
Strategic Development Committee - Wednesday, 13th November, 2024 6.30 p.m.
The Strategic Development Committee voted to grant planning permission subject to conditions to an application to change the use of two floors of One Canada Square from office space to educational space. The committee also voted to approve changes to a Section 106 agreement to allow construction of a previously stalled residential development at Leven Road. The committee voted to defer a planning application for a purpose built student accommodation building at 7 Brannon Street to allow a site visit to take place.
Pensions Committee - Monday, 11th November, 2024 6.30 p.m.
The Pensions Committee noted the reports of the Pension Board, Schroders, and officers. The committee approved the holding of a Pension Fund Information Forum for scheme employers and members in January 2025.
Grants Determination (Cabinet) Sub-Committee - Wednesday, 6th November, 2024 5.30 p.m.
The Grants Determination (Cabinet) Sub-Committee of Tower Hamlets Council met to discuss the performance of organisations in receipt of grants. They voted to withdraw funding from the Limehouse Welfare Association, but agreed to meet any costs the organisation had incurred. They also asked officers to provide a report on other concerning organisations at their next meeting.
