At a meeting of the Waltham Forest Council, councillors approved an updated Local Development Scheme and declared a Nature Emergency in the borough. The council also paid tribute to former Councillor Mohammad Asghar, father of Councillor Naheed Asghar, Portfolio Lead Member - Inclusive Economy, who had recently passed away.
Housing and Inclusive Economy Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday, 2nd April, 2025 7.00 pm
The Housing and Inclusive Economy Scrutiny Committee was scheduled to discuss a determination by the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman, a proposed Inclusive Growth and Economy Framework, and a Housing Repairs and Maintenance Policy. The committee was also expected to review action and recommendation trackers, and to suggest any items for the 2025/26 draft work programme.

It also included for discussion the council’s performance on a number of key housing performance indicators, progress on the Local Plan Part 2 and an update on the progress of the Adult Learning Service during the 2023-2024 academic year.
Planning Committee - Tuesday, 14th January, 2025 7.00 pm
The meeting saw planning permission granted for a residential development, a change of use from residential to commercial, and the construction of a crematorium. An application for a residential development was also approved.
