The Licensing Committee of Wandsworth Council met to consider a range of issues relating to licensed premises in the borough. Included in the reports pack were proposals to update the Council's fees for issuing various licences for gambling premises and a report about the adoption of a new Cumulative Impact Assessment for Wandsworth.

This meeting was scheduled to include a review of the fees charged for licenses issued by the council and a discussion of a proposed Cumulative Impact Assessment of the impact of licensed premises on crime and disorder in the borough.

The Committee voted to refuse planning permission for a mixed-use development of student accommodation and affordable housing on Battersea Park Road, and to grant planning permission for the demolition of an industrial building on Lidden Road and its replacement with a new industrial building. The Committee also voted to grant planning permission for the construction of a new Renal Centre building at St George's Hospital.

Agenda and decisions

The committee approved all 12 of the applications that were put before it, with the exception of a controversial application at 150a-170 Penwith Road and 2-8 Thornsett Road in Earlsfield, where councillors voted against the recommendation to approve the scheme.

The Council voted to note a report about an increase to Councillor allowances for information and approved a motion celebrating the Council's success in supporting social workers. The Council also voted against motions to exempt or compensate charities for the rise in Employer National Insurance Contributions, and to condemn the Council for failing to take action to end the protest on Riverside Walk in Nine Elms. The Council voted to accept a Conservative amendment to a Labour motion on compassion at Christmas.
