Extraordinary Council, Council - Tuesday 2nd December, 2025 7.00 pm
The London Borough of Barnet Council held an extraordinary meeting to discuss a motion regarding secrecy and failures in corporate parenting following the deaths of three care-experienced young people. The council voted against an amendment to the motion, and then voted to approve an amended version of the motion. The approved motion included a commitment to inform all corporate parents immediately of any event involving looked-after young persons which may reasonably be expected to require an inquest, and that reviews will always take place following such inquests for all care experienced young people where the death is not linked to natural causes.
Cabinet - Tuesday 18th November, 2025 7.00 pm
The Barnet Council cabinet met to discuss a range of issues, including financial planning, housing, environmental initiatives, and community safety. Key decisions included approving a temporary accommodation reduction plan, Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs), and a 20mph zone policy.
Licensing Sub-Committee - Thursday 6th November, 2025 10.30 am
The Licensing Sub-Committee convened to review the premises licence for Food Centre, located at 190B Station Road, Edgware. The committee decided to revoke the licence due to concerns about the prevention of crime and disorder, and public safety, stemming from the repeated discovery of smuggled goods and breaches of licensing conditions at the premises. This decision was made after considering representations from the Trading Standards Team, the Licensing Authority, Public Health, and the Metropolitan Police.
Adults and Health Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee - Wednesday 5th November, 2025 7.00 pm
The Adults and Health Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee met to discuss adult social care, food security, and NHS performance, among other topics. The committee approved the recommendations of the Food Security Task and Finish Group for referral to the Cabinet, and noted the Adult Social Care Annual Complaints Report. The Sub-Committee also discussed the Cabinet Forward Plan and the Adults and Health Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee Work Programme.

The Licensing and General Purposes Committee convened to discuss polling places, animal welfare, trading standards, environmental health and wellbeing in Barnet. Councillors approved changes to polling places, adopted an updated animal welfare licensing policy, and took note of reports on trading standards, health and safety, and the council's health and wellbeing performance. The committee also reviewed its forward work plan for the remainder of the year.
