Cabinet - Tuesday 16th September, 2025 7.00 pm

The Barnet Council Cabinet met to discuss a range of issues, including financial planning, community safety, and development projects. Key decisions included approving a plan to address the council's financial challenges, rescinding a previous agreement related to Copthall Playing Fields, and adopting a rights of way improvement plan. The cabinet also approved the Economic Development Framework 2025-2030 and the Placemaking Framework.

Children and Education Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee - Tuesday 9th September, 2025 7.00 pm

Councillor Tony Vourou, Chair of the Children and Education Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee, welcomed attendees to the meeting, where the subcommittee discussed a range of topics, including youth services, school planning, elective home education, and family services. The committee noted the progress of several task and finish groups and reviewed the Cabinet Forward Plan.

Licensing Sub-Committee - Thursday 14th August, 2025 10.30 am

The Licensing Sub-Committee granted a new premises licence with amendments to Vsands Trading Ltd, allowing them to sell alcohol for consumption off the premises between 10:00 and 23:00, with extended hours until 01:00 on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve/Day and bank holidays; and to open to the public between 07:00 and 23:30, with extended hours until 01:00 on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve/Day and bank holidays. The decision followed a hearing where concerns were raised by a local resident regarding potential crime and disorder. Several conditions were added to the licence to address these concerns.

Strategic Planning Committee - Wednesday 23rd July, 2025 7.00 pm, NEW

The Strategic Planning Committee of Barnet Council approved an outline planning application for the redevelopment of the Broadwalk Shopping Centre in Edgware, including the bus station, bus garage, Redhill Clinic and Deansbrook Nature Reserve. The decision is subject to referral to the Mayor of London and a Section 106 agreement. A motion to defer the application was rejected.

Council - Tuesday 8th July, 2025 7.00 pm

The meeting of the Council of the London Borough of Barnet on 8 July 2025 was scheduled to cover a range of topics, including motions on national gambling reform, housing, and climate change, as well as reports from various committees and officers. Councillors were also expected to discuss a deputation regarding EV charging points.
