Homes and Communities Scrutiny Committee - Monday, 6th January, 2025 7.30 pm

The Homes and Communities Scrutiny Committee met to discuss housing performance, community centres, and future work plans. The committee reviewed the latest quarterly housing performance report, heard about an innovative model for community centres from a guest speaker, and discussed plans for upcoming meetings.

Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 17th December, 2024 7.30 pm

The committee heard from Centre 404 and Mildmays Extra Care about the accommodation that they provide for vulnerable people, reviewed the performance of the London Ambulance Service and considered the annual report of the Islington Safeguarding Adults Board. The committee also heard a performance update on the council's Public Health objectives for Quarter 1 2024-25 and considered their work programme for the year.

Council - Thursday, 12th December, 2024 7.15 pm

At the meeting on 12 December, the council made a number of decisions. The council approved the adoption of a new Council Tax Support Scheme. Councillors voted to note the annual Armed Forces Covenant Annual Report. Councillors noted the political balance of the council, following the results of a by-election and the recent formation of the Independent and Green Group. Councillors voted to adopt an updated constitution, and approved a series of new committee appointments. Finally, councillors discussed and then voted to adopt two motions: one on giving refugees time to resettle, and a second on winter fuel allowance.

Extraordinary, Council - Tuesday, 19th November, 2024 6.30 pm, NEW

Councillor Una O'Halloran was elected as the new leader of Islington Council. She is the first leader of the council to have been born and raised in the borough, and the first to have been a lifelong council tenant. She was elected unanimously by councillors after being proposed and seconded by Labour councillors, and welcomed by councillors from the Green party.

The Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee noted a report on Adult Social Care performance for the first quarter of 2024-25, received evidence from witnesses about adult social care accommodation, and noted a report about adult social care accommodation costs.
