Homes and Communities Scrutiny Committee - Thursday, 6th February, 2025 7.30 pm
The Homes and Community Screening Committee received presentations from three different organisations about rough sleeping services, community asset management and repairs. The committee agreed that Islington should continue with its current practice of working with other organisations to support women experiencing rough sleeping, and asked for a detailed breakdown of repeat repair callouts.
Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 4th February, 2025 7.30 pm
The committee noted the Adult Social Care Budget Report, Quarter 2 Performance Report and the Executive Member for Health and Care's Annual Report. The committee also heard evidence from officers on Islington's Local Plan, and how it can be used to secure more housing for older and disabled people. No decisions were made.
Homes and Communities Scrutiny Committee - Monday, 6th January, 2025 7.30 pm
The committee discussed a report on housing performance in the second quarter of the financial year and then heard a presentation from Elie Dedecker, the Chief Executive of the Bromley by Bow Centre, on their approach to community centres. They then discussed the upcoming schedule for the committee.
Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 17th December, 2024 7.30 pm
The committee heard from Centre 404 and Mildmays Extra Care about the accommodation that they provide for vulnerable people, reviewed the performance of the London Ambulance Service and considered the annual report of the Islington Safeguarding Adults Board. The committee also heard a performance update on the council's Public Health objectives for Quarter 1 2024-25 and considered their work programme for the year.
Council - Thursday, 12th December, 2024 7.15 pm
At the meeting on 12 December, the council made a number of decisions. The council approved the adoption of a new Council Tax Support Scheme. Councillors voted to note the annual Armed Forces Covenant Annual Report. Councillors noted the political balance of the council, following the results of a by-election and the recent formation of the Independent and Green Group. Councillors voted to adopt an updated constitution, and approved a series of new committee appointments. Finally, councillors discussed and then voted to adopt two motions: one on giving refugees time to resettle, and a second on winter fuel allowance.
